Privacy Policy

What we collect

• Profile and preferences you provide: name, email, phone, location, work history, skills, education, the roles, places and work arrangements you want, and the answers you save for application questions.
• Account details: your name and email address, and how you sign in (email and password, or Google). Sign-in is handled by our identity provider, Clerk. Your password is stored by Clerk in hashed form; ApplyVia never sees or stores it.
• Job pages you ask the extension to read: the public text of LinkedIn and Naukri job postings and company job boards (Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby), used to score fit and prepare an application.
• Credentials you add yourself: an OpenRouter API key, if you choose to use your own, and a Google Apps Script web app address, if you turn on Sheet sync or email. These stay in your browser profile.
• Subscription details: your plan, its status and renewal date. Payments are taken by Razorpay on its own payment page; ApplyVia never sees or stores your card or bank details.
• Technical data: basic request logs and security events, and anonymised usage analytics from the ApplyVia website (see Analytics below).

What stays on your device

Your resume file, application history, logs, saved answers and settings are stored locally in your browser (extension storage). Your resume file is never uploaded to ApplyVia servers. Uninstalling the extension removes the local data.

What is sent to ApplyVia servers

When you connect the extension to your ApplyVia account, these documents are synced to our database: your candidate profile, job preferences, application policies, application memory and onboarding state. They are kept so your setup follows you across browsers and so fit checks can run. They are stored in a managed PostgreSQL database (Neon) and are accessible only to your account.

AI processing

To score job fit and draft answers, the extension or the ApplyVia server sends the job text and the parts of your confirmed profile that are needed for that task to an AI model through OpenRouter. We request that providers which retain or train on prompts are excluded. We do not send your original resume file, your passwords or your API keys to any model. AI output is a draft for you to review; ApplyVia never submits an application for you.

How we use data

• To run the features you use: finding, scoring and preparing applications, and tracking them.
• To keep your account secure and to prevent abuse.
• To fix bugs and improve the product.

We do not sell your data, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not use it to decide credit or lending. We share it only with the processors that run the service: our hosting provider, Neon (database), OpenRouter and its model providers (AI), Clerk (sign-in and account security), Google (Google sign-in and, if you enable it, your own Apps Script), Razorpay (payments and subscriptions), and Microsoft Clarity (analytics). We may disclose data if the law requires it.

Analytics

The ApplyVia website uses Microsoft Clarity to understand how pages are used. Form inputs, including passwords, are masked. The browser extension itself does not include analytics or advertising trackers.

Permissions the extension requests

The extension asks for access to linkedin.com and naukri.com to read job pages, openrouter.ai for AI requests, the public job-board APIs of Greenhouse, Lever and Ashby, open.er-api.com for exchange rates, Google Apps Script for optional sync, and applyvia.in for your account. It uses storage, tabs, alarms, notifications and the side panel to keep your data, find the job tab you have open, schedule steps, alert you, and show its controls. It runs only the code shipped in its package; it loads no remote code.

Retention and your choices

• You can edit or clear your profile, answers and history in the extension at any time.
• You can delete your account yourself at any time in Settings, under Delete account. This stops any paid plan immediately, deletes your profile, preferences, saved answers, resume details, connected browsers and subscription record from our database, and removes your sign-in from Clerk. Usage and security log entries are kept without any link to you. You can also email us to ask for deletion, and we will do it within 30 days, apart from records we must keep by law.
• You can remove the extension to delete all local data.

Security

Data travels over HTTPS. Sign-in and password storage are handled by Clerk. Secrets are held on the server, never in the extension package. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

Children

ApplyVia is for people looking for work and is not directed at anyone under 16.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for material changes, tell you in the product.
